This coming weekend, the ALPINA team will compete in their last race this year: the 34th DMV
Münsterland Trophy Four-Hour Race. The 10th race of the BFGoodrich Nürburgring Endurance
Championship will take place on Saturday at the famous Nürburgring-Nordschleife (North Loop).
After the 56th ADAC Westfalen race and the 34th DMV four-hr race this April (in which ALPINA
started from the front row), this will be the Buchloe team‘s third start at a VLN-organised four-hr
race meet at the Nürburgring this year.
This time, however, two BMW ALPINA B6 GT3s will grid for the legendary Eifel course, just as
it was at the Nürburgring 24-Hours earlier this year. Car #78 will be piloted by Andreas Wirth
(GER) and Csaba Walter (HUN), two drivers known to ALPINA fans. Norwegian Stian Alexander
Sorlie will complete the driver trio for the four-hour race. Sorlie drove for Team Schubert Motorsport
at the Dubai 24-Hours this year, sharing driving duties with none other than ALPINA
regular Claudia Hürtgen (GER), capturing 2nd place.
Claudia is of course also present, finishing her season behind the wheel of the ALPINA, but with
two new colleagues: 18-year-old Valentin Hummel (GER) can already look back on a long racing
resumé, but remains consistently the youngest driver in the field. So it was at this year’s
Nürburgring 24-Hours, where he drove the B6GT3 for ALPINA’s customer team, Sport Garage,
as well as at the FIA GT3 European Championship round in Oschersleben (GER). In a short
period of time, he‘s assembled quite some experience behind the wheel of the BMW ALPINA
B6 GT3. For Michael Ammermüller (GER), it‘s his first race in the BMW ALPINA, but based on
his many years of racing, ALPINA expect the second B6GT3, car #75, to turn in a strong performance,
as well.
The race starts at 12 Noon, CET. Entry is free, with access to both the pits and main grandstands
running 12 Euros. It‘s worth a visit, for in a VLN race the field is quite mixed: from nearproduction
machinery all the way up to full-on race cars, and every class in between.
